Some random facts about myself.
- I know six national anthems (God Defend New Zealand, Advance Australia Fair, God Save The Queen, Flower of Scotland, La Marseillaise [France], Inno di Mameli/Il Canto Degli Italiani [Italy])
- My favourite part of flying is take-off
- I loved getting out of my home town, even if it was only for a couple of days
- I finally moved out of my hometown in March 2010 and as of 26 May 2011, I’ve only been back once
- I very rarely eat red meat, as I’ve never really liked it
- I don’t like most vegetables
- I love junk food
- I’m actually underweight
- I can have a basic conversation in Japanese
- I can still read Japanese to a point (hiragana, katakana and limited kanji)
- I do not want to know any more Maori than what I already know (which is the haka, the first verse of God Defend New Zealand and really basic Maori)
- I would like to learn French and Italian
- I am sensitive to caffeine so I have to monitor my caffeine intake very carefully
- I can’t stand the smell of coffee – I can’t remember when I had my last cup of coffee but it was several years ago
- I’m the only one in the family who can eat olives and Turkish Delight (not at the same time!)
- I don’t have any trouble switching between driving an automatic car and a manual car
- Having said that, the car I did drive was a manual (stick shift for some of you)
- I generally referred to the car as Gertie, although occasionally, she was referred to as a “stupid piece of Japanese kuso” when she decided she didn’t want to go
- I would like to visit the US, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Russia and Ukraine
- I want to live in Australia
- I absolutely detest my teeth (weird body part to hate!)
- Depending on who makes the shoe, I take a size 8, 9 or 10
- I am a New Zealand size 8 (around a US size 4)
- I have morton’s toe (generally known as Celtic toe) on both feet but it is worse on my right foot. This means that I generally have to buy shoes one size bigger than normal to compensate, because my second toe scrunches up if the shoe is too small
- I am very right handed
- I can write with my left hand but it is very messy
- I am the younger of my mother’s two children but I am the eldest of my father’s five so I never know which birth order test thing to go by
- I am an Aquarius in Western astrology and a sheep/goat in Chinese astrology
- I consider myself to be Atheist, which explains why I really don’t like Christmas and crosses
- I am most definitely a cat person, having three cats at home (Billie, Simba and Freddie)
- I like watching programmes about plane crashes, yet I love flying
- When on a plane, I don’t feel right if I’m not sitting in a window seat on the left side. Why that is, I don’t know
- I would like to learn how to play the bagpipes – this is my Scottish blood coming through
- I go nuts whenever I hear Scotland the Brave on the bagpipes
- I can’t stand the smell of grass that has just been mowed – with good reason! It aggravated my eczema when I was younger
- I can be very indecisive about certain things – like what I want to do with myself
- I have eight piercings (seven in my ears and my belly button/navel) but no tattoos
- I was diagnosed with nearsightedness (myopia) in November 2010 and have been wearing glasses since 2 December 2010
- I have a title at work that only applies when I’m in a certain area – Departmental Evacuation Warden
- I can make cheese sauce from scratch. To me, that is real cheese sauce. Not the stuff you whip together from a packet
