Moving my FLs

Just so you know, I am in the process of moving the majority of my fanlistings to a subdomain. It is taking me longer than I thought but I will get there in the end. I know I will, even if it means losing a fair amount of my hair in the process This will explain why things might be a little funky on my fanlistings in the meantime. Rest assured that I know about it and am doing my best to rectify the situation, in between work and my other online commitments.

January-Star will be the new home of my fanlistings.

Fanlisting tweaking – kind of

I am doing some tweaking of my fanlisting collective – mainly adding stats for my owned ones on the owned page. I will be uploading new pictures for those ones soon and I’m also working on a new layout for the FL collective. The old one has been up for too long!

A couple of days after Southland won the Ranfurly Shield, I applied for the fanlisting for them at The Fanlistings Network. It took me that long to resist!

Anyway, yesterday, I got the approval email in my inbox and got a very basic “coming soon” graphic up – you can view what will be the fanlisting for the Stags here.

I’ve got a bit of work to do on my fanlistings and a couple of other pages related to my fanlistings so guess what I’ll be doing while I’ve got the chance?

A few of them need new layouts for sure as well as affiliates being added so that’ll be something to keep my busy in the meantime.

Skinning a site is hard work, I’ve decided. I haven’t actually done it for quite some time so there’s nothing like throwing yourself in the deep end by deciding that your newest fanlisting (The Karate Kid Part II) will have seven skins.

I’ve completed four of them so far and have been busy testing them in a dummy folder, just to make sure they’re working alright before uploading them to the actual fanlisting folder. Having said that, I’ve been checking all of them in the two browsers available to me (Firefox and Internet Explorer) for compatibility and so far, everything seems to be going fine. I’ll admit that things are a little out for Internet Explorer but it’s not my browser of choice anyway. I also have to put up with my ISP’s “I’m not going to load anything but once you close your browser window, I’ll actually start working again” moods which seem to happen with some degree of regularity, usually when I’m trying to upload something related to one of the fanlisting’s skins.

Today is definitely going to be an indoors day, as we’ve got strong wind as well as heavy rain. So I might just spend some it watching The Karate Kid Part II for the umpteenth time and finish the skins that I haven’t yet started on!
