  1. Freddie: one year on

    November 12, 2010 by Stephanie

Today is my cat’s birthday. As Freddie isn’t with me (still with my mother), my mother emailed me some photos of Freddie that she took earlier today.

This is Freddie the day that I brought her home. At the time, she didn’t have a name as we were still trying to decide what to name her – I can’t remember precisely what I was referring to her as. Probably “Sweetie” or something like that. She was just about seven weeks old here. Excuse the book in the background – that was something that my mother was reading. She got her name the day after – when Mum told me that her Blue Moon rose (Freddie Mercury’s favourite rose) had several flowers on it, I happened to be listening to a Queen song on iTunes and there was a Freddie Mercury documentary on later that night. We took it as a sign to name her Freddie.

This is Freddie when she was about two and a half months old. She was playing with the strap for my digital camera (as I was taking photos of her) and also my left foot which caused my left ankle to throb in pain because I had sprained it four days earlier – on my birthday of all days. I just love the look on her face in this pic – she looks very innocent in it, haha! As for why I was taking the photos of her, I wasn’t able to do a lot at home because of my ankle so I resorted to doing that to stave off the boredom!

The classic “Oh shit, I’ve been busted!” look. She was licking her chops because she had been playing with some fresh pasta that I had eaten for my lunch and she eventually ate it when it had cooled down enough for her to eat. I don’t know if she will still literally eat anything (do you know of a cat that would readily eat broccoli?) but yeah, she ate anything. She’s four months old in this picture.

  2. Meet Freddie

    January 13, 2010 by Stephanie

FreddieThis is our new kitten Freddie. She’s nearly nine weeks old, has beautiful blue eyes and is completely medium grey apart from the lighter grey around her nose and eyes. To be honest, I had completely forgotten what it was like to have a kitten around as Billie is 11 and Simba around 13 but Freddie (FYI, she is named after the one and only Freddie Mercury of Queen fame) is very playful, as the numerous scratches and claw/teeth marks on my hands, arms and face can attest to!

So if you follow me on Twitter, where I have mentioned Freddie several times, now you know what she looks like!
